Your benefits as a member of FAM are:

Advocacy in State Government
FAM staff monitors all legislation affecting museums and provides information to legislators and legislative staff in order to ensure educated policy making. FAM staff also works with state agencies for the improvement of state programs affecting museums. As a direct result of FAM activities, the legislature created specific grant programs for history museums, science museums, and children's museums, totaling $2.25 million annually, which provide both program and general operating support. In addition, FAM has interceded to prevent the application of personal property taxation to artworks and artifacts loaned to museums, a tax which would have had an adverse impact on museums throughout the state.

Educational Opportunities
Through annual conferences and regional educational workshops, FAM joins with the FAM Foundation to pursue its primary purpose of providing educational and networking opportunities for museum professionals. FAM members receive discounts on registration fees to all educational events.

Database
FAM maintains an extensive and growing database on Florida's museums, museum professionals and vendor organizations which provide services and merchandise to museums. FAM members are provided extensive access to the database for research and information purposes.

This quarterly newsletter provides updates, informative articles and important announcements.

FAM Directory
This annual directory provides detailed information on all Florida museums, all individual and affiliate members and a vendor product/services index.
